Dr. Vance Shappley, a successful urologist practicing in the Memphis area, has always had a passion for automobiles. While his collection includes a wide variety of special-interest cars, he has always had a particular interest in Corvettes, especially rare and distinctive Corvettes.Over the last 25 years Dr. Shappley has assembled, one at a time, a collection of ten extraordinary Corvettes. For example, a pair of "one-off" factory styling cars and a pair of Z-06 coupes. Plus an all original 10,000 mile '65 fuelie, and a fully-documented 1969 L88 convertible. Plus others.Dr. Shappley has decided to share with the rest of us and sell several choice examples at this year's Bloomington Gold Auction. The two Z-06 coupes, a '63 and a '64, will be sold as a pair; the remaining 8 will be sold individually. All ten will be sold with documentation that Dr. Shappley has been able to assemble for each vehicle. Tank stickers, window stickers, warranty books, Protect-O-Plates, Bloomington Gold certifications, awards, honors, and all other relevant materials will reveal why the cars owned by Dr. Vance Shappley are so highly coveted by those in the Corvette world.
