Here's my original paint/interior, 60,000-mile, '72 454 Corvette. After owning a California-original '68 Camaro for a number of years, I always found myself admiring Corvettes at the car shows. I remember the first time I saw this '72 big-block. It was like the first time you met the girl that you knew would be your wife. I always appreciated original cars because you almost never see them, and when I found out how original this car was-with excellent documentation-I was sold. Soon after, I bought a low-mileage, '92 LT1-equipped Corvette for daily driving.

I have a '65 Corvette convertible that I found in a barn in New Jersey back in 1993. Four years later, I had a Nassau Blue, 327/350, four-speed car that was restored to original specifications. I drove it for nine years, and in July 2005, I decided to do another full restoration, with a twist. I wanted to increase power, update the steering, improve suspension and handling, and add a fifth gear for highway cruising. It now has late-model GM steering and a Tremec five-speed transmission. We estimate the original 327 pushes 400-plus horses with a hotter cam, roller rockers, head and intake porting, Hedman Hedders feeding the original factory side pipes, and a new Holley 700 double-pumper.

I am the original owner of a garage-kept '82 Corvette (numbers-matching). The paint is original as well as the interior. I recently invested in an engine and TBI rebuild, including suspension work by Corvette Paramedics. My intent was to keep my Corvette as close to original as possible, and I am extremely happy that I did. This Corvette performs better than new and is a pleasure to drive. Your "Exhausting Conclusion" article sparked my interest, and I've since installed a high-flow cat, rear Y-pipe, and Magnaflow mufflers. I hope to enjoy my '82 Vette for many more years, and perhaps it will remain in my family for other generations to enjoy.
