The bulb housing can be removed...
The bulb housing can be removed by twisting it. Be careful not to break the plastic housing by forcing it.
Once the housing is removed...
Once the housing is removed you can see the bulb. Its obvious when a bulb burns out because it no longer has a nice, clean glass.
When handling the bulbs, never...
When handling the bulbs, never touch them directly. The grease from your fingers will severely shorten the life of the bulb. If you need to handle the bulb, use a paper towel or similar material.
To get to the third brake...
To get to the third brake light in the rear bumper, youll need to remove the gas door.
Next, remove the gas cap....

...and the rubber drip pan...
...and the rubber drip pan to gain access to the bolts for the light assembly.
Reach in behind the bumper...
Reach in behind the bumper to loosen the two nuts that hold the light bezel in place.
With the bezel removed you...

Use a Phillips head screwdriver...
Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the back plate on the housing to expose the bulbs. Once again, dont touch the bulbs when installing the new ones.
With the new bulbs installed,...
With the new bulbs installed, simply reverse the process to finish the job.

While not overly complicated to carry out, changing the bulbs in your C4 can be challenging if you dont know where to look for them. Armed with this knowledge, there should be no reason to have a dull bulb on your C4.
