It's always a good idea to tack weld the pickup assembly to the oil pumpafter checking oil pickup-to-pan clearance. The pickup should be 1/4 to1/2 inch off the oil-pan bottom. Depending on the oil pump used,crankshaft clearance can be an issue, so you get to rotate the engine afew more times. View Related Article
