I have a 1984 corvette crossfire My current problem is with the crossfire setup. Previously I was facing no-start issues due to clogged fuel injectors.. I have changed my fuel injectors and now I am not getting fuel to my injectors or through the fuel meter setup. in order to get the car to start I have to use starter fluid. I know my fuel pump works and so on, I just can't seem to get fuel to come out of my injectors. This is my first corvette i have owned and I realize that maybe I should have avoided the Crossfire year corvettes. someone please help and make me feel less of an idiot!!

oh... by the way.. if the fuel pressure regulator is leaking into the intake.. via the vacuum hose.. you can end up with internal engine damage do to excess fuel in the intake filling the cylinders... creating a hydraulic lock... so it the engine won't turn.. stop.... you might want to check by sticking a 15/16 socket on the alternator and using a ratchet to turn the crank at least 3 turns... if the fuel pressure regulator is NOT leaking into the intake manifold.. you could have other problems.. these can be easily diagnosed if you have an OBD1 scan tool.. i am not just talking about codes.. but actually the voltages and signals the computer sees from the sensors look in the active posts link for the scan tools for C4 corvettes.. if the engine starts and dies.. you could also have a VATS security failure.. is the security light on??? you can also jump the ALDL connector as soon as it fails to start and retrieve codes... i think a code 48 is a vats system code.. showing it has locked you out.. there is a 4 minute time delay between locking you out and another attempt to start.. after you have removed the key..

Just bought a 1986 C4 and am having issues centered around the radio. When I first got the car if I tried to use the factory radio and then turned the car off the car wouldn't start back up for about 15 minutes. Swapped out the factory radio for a new one and an amp and now the battery dies over night and has to be charged. Any ideas as to what the issue might be?

I own a V-8 automatic tran Corvette. lately i have had problems to where after i drive it a certain amount a miles it wants to knock off when i stop at a stop light or sign i have to put it in natural so it will not knock off when i stop. also if i cut it off say when i get gas it wont cut back on for about 5 minutes. it turns over but it just will not catch fire :confused: any ideas on what is wrong?

i always knew that corvettes were HOT cars.. but seriously.. i need a few things from you.. do you have automatic climate controls with push buttons and a digital temp readout... or do you have knobs and levers.. a mechanical system.... .. next.. when you move the controls for Defrost.. does it blow air out at the base of the windshield.. can you then command cold air then warm .. then hot??? from the defroster.. since its easier to get your hand up there.. next does it blow out the dash vents when you command it.. both cold.. warm and hot???? out the floor vents . cold warm and hot.. this is the first test.. ... we can go from there.. why.. the various controls are vacuum operated.. defrost. dash outlet, floor outlet, the temp is either controlled by the programmer or the cable.. depending if your system is automatic or manual.. i will also have to check to see if the 88 came with a heater control valve.. that would shut off hot water to the heater core.. the system in the OFF position IS NOT off.. the blower motor always runs.. its a safety feature .. positive ventilation.. keeps the exhaust fumes out.. answer that first bunch of questions.. i may be able to direct you into what might be wrong... this is all without tearing anything apart..

ok heres the story the guy i bought it from said the heater fan would not shut off so he pulled the wire off the heater fan I can not get it to work now its a auto ac heat system in a 1986 vet Put power to fan the fan works went bought a heater fan relay me and 3 guys at autozone could not find a relay that mached the one i bought theres no relay on heater box like othere GM called GM crossed the number on the relay and i have the right one so I need help and am a ponitac guy I know nothing about this vet i got my wife PLEASE HELP ME

So the rear water drain that sits just beneath the filler cap was indeed clogged and the hose was disconnected behind the license plate. I am going to let her run for a little bit just because. But I still suspect some tbi issues. For some reason I am beginning to suspect mismatched injectors, front tbi vs rear tbi, or some other improper installation by someone who did not know what they were doing.

I posted this on the vetteweb forum with hardly any feedback. Thought I would try it here. I have an 87 with some slight mods. SLP cold air intake, SLP airfoil,160 degree thermostat, deleted EGR and A.I.R. systems, Hypertech chip, Hedman elite headers and deleted catalytic converters. Does anyone know what the horsepower and torque are now? Any suggestions on additional modifications? I sure do hate getting old and second guessing myself. :cool:Don't mention old arond some of the forums...LOL.. :cool: There is only one o2 sensor in that header pipe..Some parts guys will have you second guessing yourself as they go by what they read not what you have..Some time it's best to just remove what you have and go there with it...I'll tell you I have found GM parts to be very competative price wise and your still getting a GM part that's warranty for a year.... :grin: :cool: :cool: Bob

1990 C4 Base model. If the battery gets low I can hear a clicking sound coming from the center of the dash inside and also from 2 relays mounted on (driver side) of the radiator. When I put the battery charger on the battery both the clicking sounds pick up speed and in just seconds stop. I feel this is what is running my battery down but what to do? I have installed a battery saver switch with a bypass fused line. This helps but it just take longer for the battery to run down! :confused: again.

I recently had a brand new motor built for my 1987 Corvette. The only items I used from the original L98 was the heads, intake, runner's, plenum, distributor & throttle body. Along with the original engine harness. I did replace all sensor's, connector's & switches with new. Just installed new Fuel Injector's as well as the ECM. I will attemp to post a picture or 2 here for you but in case they do not come thru click on my name/photo and you will see newly posted photos of the engine on various sites. this i don't know... question.. before you start ripping and cutting... what does NOT work on the digital dash... and.. do you have a factory service manual to examine the wiring diagram for the dash.. i don't have that diagram ... i would almost bet that you disconnected a ground wire between the dash and the engine when you removed the crossfire wiring .. that is my best guess for without researching.. i am taking that you installed a vacuum advance distributer. but they also have the TACH hook up.. list what does not work.. or go through the dash diagnostics.. there are several articles on the 2 corvette magazines here.. VETTEWEB is the other.. there are a few really serious corvette techs who drop in.. so do check in and give this post a bump .. and a reply when you get it fixed.. i will look around over the weekend.. but i have to run out now..

do check back.. i will probably edit some of what i posted with a better description.. but do check the apply of the rear calipers.. additionally.. if your rotors are worn.. have a visible ridge around the outside of the wear section.. and you have installed new pads.. the taper of the rotor friction area will only allow the new pads and calipers to touch the center of the wear section then something has to flex to bring the pad into full contact with the rotor face... this can also make spongy brakes.. it does not even take a LOT of taper on the rotor for this to happen...
