Early 427 engines featured compact closed-chamber heads, which are greatfor combustion efficiency and contribute to the high factory compressionratio. We dropped that ratio some, but were sure Comp's stainless steelvalves and the detailed high-performance machined valve job would helpget back some of the performance sacrifice.
