Before removing anything from the regulator, unload the lift-assist spring. With the regulator in a vise, the bolt limiting travel can be removed while holding tightly onto the lift arm. The lift arm will rotate until it hits a stop at the upper limit. With more effort, it can be pushed farther until the spring is unloaded. Note where the spring is so the proper tension can be loaded when the regulator lift arm is back in normal operating range. View Related Article
