C6 Corvette Z06 Bolt-Ons - Z06 Stage 1 Upgrade

Next up was changing to a lower-temperature thermostat (shown on the left).

Roman is pointing to the thermostat location on the lower right side of the engine.

Once sufficient coolant was removed from the engine, Roman removed the two inlet cover bolts. He then removed the original thermostat, installed the new lower temperature unit, and then reversed the removal procedure.

The last part of the Stage I package was the installation of the Callaway Honker air-inlet system. the mass airflow sensor was installed into the Honker inlet connector pipe (see the January '07 issue for the complete Honker install).

The Honker was connected to the radiator inlet and the throttle body.

The completed job is very stock appearing, but you better hang on when you push on the loud pedal.

The truth is in the numbers on the dyno sheet. This black beauty pulled 498.1 rwhp/471.7 rwt. We wonder what a few miles will do to this number.
