I opted to go with the PriorityStart Pro Max unit which provides some additional circuitry to protect the electrical system and battery from surges and spikes. The LED below the words "surge protection" is a status indicator to let you know the unit is doing its job properly. The little silver "Y" piece in the plastic bag is the negative connector tab, and the black rubber band is what holds the unit in place on the battery.

Corvette Battery Saver
If you have a side-terminal battery as in the C5, you'll need to use a 7/8-inch wrench to remove the terminal post adapter from the PriorityStart unit. If you have an older Corvette with top-mount terminals, you can skip this step.

Under the hood, the first thing to do is to remove the negative cable from the battery, followed by the positive cable. Always remove the negative first. A 5/16-inch wrench does the trick for these side terminals.

Sandwich the negative connector tab between the negative battery terminal and the negative cable bolt. I found that by swiveling the cable into a vertical position, I had a little more working room. Tighten the clamp bolt when you get the tab in position.

Put the PriorityStart module in position (either side or frontal mounting is OK-I went with frontal mounting). Slide the rubber band around the battery, then under the tabs on the PriorityStart to hold it in position. Connect the posi-tive battery cable to the terminal on the PriorityStart and tighten. Connect the red cable from the PriorityStart to the positive terminal of the battery, and tighten it using a 1/2-inch wrench.

The final step is to connect the black ground wire from the PriorityStart to the connector tab on the negative terminal of the battery. As soon as you do this, you'll hear gears and other mechanical noises coming from the PriorityStart module-this is normal and indicates the module is working properly. The LED indicator light will turn from red to green when the module is operational. Slip the rubber insulator boot over the positive terminal clamp and close the hood. That does it for the installation.
