C5 Corvette Shifter Install - Shifting Into Higher Gears, Part 1

With the OE shifter out, we can now compare it to the MTI shifter. Note billet aluminum base instead of the OE stamped steel base.

Note shorter arm on MTI shifter (bottom) versus OE shifter (top).

Remove plastic shifter rod seat from OE shifter. Be very careful not to break the seat as it can be brittle.

Snap plastic shifter rod seat onto new shifter.

Apply thread locker to supplied bolts.

Reinstall rubber shifter boot.

Reinstall cigarette wiring clip.

Reinstall front console portion.
