The 5.3-liter (325 cubic inches) Gen 3 small-block found in Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras has been in production since the 1999 model year. It has replaced the good old 350 Gen 1 small-block, and even though it's 25 cubic inches smaller than its predecessor, the 5.3's longer stroke makes it an inherently better truck engine.
